Happy 50 minutes past Halloween!

So tonight's the one night a year where the boys and girls of Mizzou slave over their outfits, get pumped and hit Greektown.

Just kidding, that's every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night. Sometimes even weeknights for a few brave/maybe just idiotic souls.

So how did I spend my Halloween you might ask?

Well, not the way the majority of my fellow tigers did.

I began my night/late afternoon by finishing my costume, and by finishing I mean creating the other 50% of it which was not ready (which happened to be the only 50% that was ever going to be made since I bought the other half). My trusty international friend Danhee, whom I meet with for an hour every week so she can practice her English, ended up staying in my dorm room for almost three hours, helping me create the tutu that was going to really add that "this costume is totally from Pinterest" factor.

My friend Veronica had convinced me a few weeks prior to be a superhero with her and her roommate, and seeing as I did not already have plans and wouldn't have been able to come up with something much more creative, I agreed.

It sounded like the perfect plan. We were going to put on our heroic threads, skip over to Chipotle to enjoy our $2 burritos, then catch a cab to see the latest Paranormal Activity movie.

However, this plan had numerous flaws.

1) I had absolutely no free time the entire weekend/majority of the week prior to Halloween because of all the Homecoming activities I was involved in, so I legitimately finished my costume forty five minutes before walking out the door.

2) Scary movies and I don't mix very well. I'm that person who always jumps in and is like "oh yea we HAVE to watch that!" but inside I'm secretly hoping that the movie reel will spontaneously combust into flames. Needless to say, I saw more of the inside of my North Face than I saw of the possessed child on the screen.

3) Veronica's roommate, my friend Emma, has a knack for taking forever to get ready. Regardless of the situation. So by the time we had gotten through the twenty, maybe twenty five minute line of disguised burrito buyers and enjoyed our graciously discounted meal, Emma had still been unable to make an appearance  at the restaurant.

Despite a few bumps however, our night was definitely one to remember. I ate some good food, took some fun pictures, did some quality people-watching, and even figured out the cab system in Columbia (which is much easier that what I'm used to in Chicago).

So, let it be known that while "fratting" may be the go-to activity for most tigers on Halloween, there are some alternatives that can bring some equally entertaining memories with less risks involved.
